Gorgona Isola
The Gorgona Island stands in the Ligurian Sea to 37 km from the coast of Livorno. The island remains the smallest of the whole archipelago and is also part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, designed to protect their natural environments of great scientific and cultural value. The territory is mostly mountainous type, composed of thick vegetation area of Mediterranean, is home to a penal colony, created as a branch of one of Pianosa in 1869. The island is reached by ferry only twice a week.
